Why this site?

As I started delving into home video capturing and processing, I quickly found that information was scattered all over the place, and I decided to try to bring some of it together, in one place, to help people get on top of the basics quickly without having to ask on the forums. Sometimes, the same questions would come up over and over again and as one of the people doing the asking, I found it frustrating searching through thousands of posts looking for that elusive explanation for something. So, this is the result of my efforts. I hope you find the site helpful and if you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to contact me via the email at the bottom of this page. Note • Unless otherwise stated, my processes and guides are based on an up-to-date 64-bit Windows 11 PC. • Throughout this site “Click” means Left-click, “DC” means Double-click, “RC” means Right- click. • Website display: I regularly update the content of the site. If any part appears corrupted, please refresh your browser by clearing the cache (Chrome on Windows: using the CTRL F5 key combination). • Longer pages have a “Page Links” menu button at the top to assist with navigating around the page. • The names of buttons or menu items are generally italicised. • The term “post-capture processing” is abbreviated on this website to “POST”. • A huge shout-out to the experts at VideoHelp, from whom I’ve learnt almost everything I know about video.
